Daniel was drawn not only to her beauty, but also this strength. And although some things I've questioned and have bothered me simply because I do love the book so much are different in this early version, I don't know how I'd feel if this were the *onlyversion of the book, as what we have here is an early version of a book I'd always thought brilliant. Fitzgerald wrote the novel as Trimalchio and submitted it to Maxwell Perkins, his editor at Scribner's, who had the novel set in type and sent the galleys to Fitzgerald in France. The Green King has prevented the spring, and thus all seasons but winter. Everything is really neat. The nostalgia has lasted several days with lots and lots of happy memories. . i wish it was longer or she could make another one because this book is seriuosly the best ive read so far. Berg, a man who is alluded to occasionally during the first three hundred-plus pages (yes, this is a long novel). The author is something of an artiste at character development, and is nearly as good at setting scenes, and moving the story forward. It points out that the Lakota may not have been 'native' to the Black Hills, though may have migrated away and then back to the Black Hills just before the arrival of europeans. The understated regionalisms, the crafty plot structure, the characters you could swear you keep bumping into in real life, well, it all accumulates and you start wishing everybody at work would just shut up so you could finish up, go home, and read your book. I read her book, in it's entirety, on rainy day surrounded by soft lighting.
